Chesapeake & Ohio #4
New Photos 4/28/08
Built in 1913 by the Pullman Company for the Chesapeake &
Ohio Railroad as car # 9 ( Lot #4097 Plan# 2705). Renumbered
to car #1 and finally in 1927 renumbered again to car
#4 (3rd C&O car to carry this number). Sold to the Grand
Trunk Western Railroad in 1964 who later sold the car into
private ownership. Some of the mechanical details include:
Straight bar equalizer trucks, steel construction, E
couplers, UC valves, body mounted cylinders, ISSH, Hyatt 5.5
x 10 roller bearings, Pullman mechanical air conditioning,
steam heat, D/C electrical system, mahogany interior with
inlays, floor plan consist of observation lounge, two master
rooms w/connecting bath, dining room, 2 open sections
sleeping 2 each, crew room and kitchen.
Note: Car is land locked and will need to be trucked to
live rail
