Built in 1948 by Pullman as the Hanover Kitchen for the C&O
and was the kitchen
portion of a twin unit diner (see table car
Apollo) Completely rebuilt in 1992
for service on the Pacific Starlight Dinner Train operated by BC Rail.
The car has a full kitchen although some of the kitchen equipment has
been removed it can easily be replaced. Paired with table car Apollo
you would have the the foundation cars for a great dinner train. Some
of the Savoy's mechanical features include: titelock couplers, HEP,
ISH, 6x11 bearings, tread brakes w/D-22 valves, 12 ton (R-22) air
conditioning system, built in refers, dinner plate warmers, range hood
& exhaust system, convection oven(s), stainless kitchen, Blakeslee dish
washer, stainless counters and work areas, hot water, electric floor &
over head heat.
