Built in
1952 by the Budd Co for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad as a 1 Drawing
Room, 27 Seat Parlor, Dome, Blunt End Observation car. Originally built for the
Kansas City Zephyr and later assigned to the Twin City Zephyr. Sold by the CB&Q
to Amtrak, retired and sold into private ownership. Some of the mechanical
details include: Good car body, H couplers, original Mars light, original floor
plan intact, original lighted hand rails to dome, disc brakes, C frames, ISSH,
drop equalizers, fair wheels, baggage racks removed but in car, D-22 valves,
roller bearings (mixture of Hyatt & Timken bearings), original DC electrical
system, steam heat, dome window frames, "A" end door, all light fixtures and
dome ceiling panels included.
