Original Pullman builders photo
Built in 1929 by Pullman (lot #6281) as the private car for
Mr. W.R. Reynolds (reportedly of the Reynolds Tobacco
family). Mr. Reynolds later sold the car to the Atlantic
Coast Line, who then sold it to the Missouri
Pacific Railroad. In the early 1960's the car was sold
to Rock Moran owner of Chicago Envelope Co., and re-named
Captain Hook. The
floor plan consists of a lounge, secretaries room, 3
bedrooms (car has very large upper berths), dining room,
crews room and kitchen. Some of the mechanical details
include: Roller bearings (grease), H couplers, ISSH, drop
equalizer trucks, UC brake valves w/tread cast shoes, DC
electrical system, steam & hot water heat, ice air
conditioning.
The owner has the end
gate from the platform, brass floor heat grills, ceiling
fans & window shades.
The car will need several springs replaced for shipment,
there was also a hole cut into the roof in the dining room
to extinguish a small fire that was started by vandals.
