Built in 1954 by the Pullman Company for the Boston & Maine Railroad as a 6 Roomette-4 Double Bedroom-6 Section sleeping car. Assigned  to service on the B&M train State of Maine Express which operated between Concord, NH & New York City. The B&M retired the car in 1966 and sold it to the Canadian National Railroad and eventually the CN transferred ownership to VIA Rail who then retired the car in 1982. After the VIA Rail retirement the car was sold into private ownership and moved to California for restoration and Amtrak certification. The original interior floor plan is intact except one lower section has been converted into a serving area with sink, microwave and refrigerator (owner has the section seats to put back). The dressing room and wash room on the hall side of car at section end has been converted into two separate restrooms while the dressing room and wash room on the bedroom side of the car has been converted into a shower/dressing area. Salisbury Beach will sleep 24 passengers and can accommodate 30 passengers during the day. The car is fully Amtrak compatible and ready for service, some of the mechanical details include: Full Head End Power, H couplers, 27 pin communication lines, MU, new upholstery, APEE bearings, thick serviceable wheels, not equipped with generator but car can take power from the HEP or from a separate connection from a car with a generator, 40yr truck rebuild completed in 2007, overhead & floor heat, Amtrak style air conditioning condensing unit, D-22 valves, comp tread shoes, emergency lights, FRA window waiver, 300 gal retention tank, stainless over stainless construction, freeze protection, roomette & double bedroom working toilets, great carbody & roof, OSSH trucks, rubber diaphragms.
